Ephemeral Abstractions

Ephemeral art is considered to be any artistic expression conceived under a concept of fleetingness in time, of non-permanence as a material and preservable artistic object. Nature offers moments, situations, and places that can only be captured once.

Water, as a fluid, has movement as its main characteristic; it is an element that adapts to its surroundings and flows through it, acquiring a temporal dimension that other materials do not possess. The movement of water has a suggestive, fascinating effect on humans when observing ocean waves, the ripples of a pond, or a water fountain; the observer feels the evocation of the passage of time, of a state of transcendence.

Capturing an ephemeral abstraction is freezing the wind, retaining smoke, or preserving the silhouette of a reflection that water has already erased. In this context, photography does not document reality, but its escape.
